THESSALY, Thessalian League. Mid-late 1st century BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 5.50 g, 1 h), Nikokrates, Philoxenides, and Petraios, magistrates. NIKOKPATOYΣ Head of Zeus to right, wearing laurel wreath. Rev. ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN - [Φ]IΛOΞ-ENIΔOY - ΠETPAIOΣ Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and holding shield on her left arm; in field to right, palm frond. BCD Thessaly I 1388 (same reverse die). BCD Thessaly II 852 (this coin). Lightly toned and unusually attractive. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.
